JBL EON15G2

JBL EON15G2

Discontinued DJ Equipment

Second Generation EON is now a full line of powered speakers and systems. With more than 300,000 systems already being used in applications from live sound reinforcement, speech and vocals to music playback in entertainment, A/V and institutional environments, the JBL EON system is firmly entrenched as the industry leader in powered portable speaker systems. The flagship of the new series is the JBL EON15 G2, delivering 300 watts of power to a 15" neodymium Differential Drive® LF driver. The driver boasts a dual neodymium magnet and dual voice coil motor that efficiently delivers high output from a lightweight woofer. Meanwhile, the HF amplifier delivers 100 watts of power to a 1.75" titanium diaphragm compression driver with Ferro-fluid cooling. New to the EONG2 line is the EON10 G2 two-way powered speaker which is an ideal companion for the new EONSUB G2 powered subwoofer. Also new are the EON15 G2 System and EON10 G2 System, featuring newly designed mixers with extended capabilities. A full line of Accessories including brackets and bags is also now available.

What is the EON15 G2? - The EON15 G2 is a full range professional speaker system with an integrated amplifier and basic mixer built into one package. This cost effective, versatile system is ideal for bands, clubs, duos and single acts, school, churches, A/V houses, hotels and many others.

Versatility - EON's input section allows both mic and line level inputs. In addition, the new Loop/Mix output allows you to daisy-chain EON speakers or send signal directly to the main PA. Performance. JBL's exclusive Neodymium Differential Drive® transducer provides superior audio performance while reducing weight.

Innovation - JBL's exclusive Thermomaster® technology prevents thermal problems often exhibited in competitive products and eliminates the need for cooling fans and ugly external heatsinks, even at high volumes. Here's how Thermomaster technology works: EON's single piece cast aluminum baffle is thermally coupled to the heat producing elements. (Voice-coils and amplifier.) The woofer produces air movement, which flows through the finned ports and dissipates the heat.

More Power - With the EON15 G2's additional power, you get cleaner, clearer sound at any volume. The low frequency has more than doubled to 300 watts and 100 watts are dedicated to the high frequency horn.

History - There are over 300,000 EON speakers being used. It IS the industry standard.

We Listened - The first generation of EON speakers became the all time best selling portable powered speaker system. Now JBL Pro is making a great product even better. Look for these new features.

• Expanded on-board mixing capability
• More power
• Better sound
• More resilient material

The Loop/Mix output allows you to daisy-chain any number of EON speakers or send the EON's mixed signal directly to a main PA. Two 1/4" line level inputs for electronic keyboards, pre-amplified guitars and basses, drum machines, CD players or an input from a mixer. EON G2 delivers more real power to the speakers. The EON15 G2 has 300 watts for low frequencies, a 130% increase over the original 15P. For high frequencies, the power has been boosted 100% to 100 watts

White Paper : EON Generation 2 : Introduction

In 1995 JBL introduced the EON Series of powered speakers. This breakthrough speaker line launched an entirely new concept of speakers, incorporating consumer ease of use into a package that was lightweight and powerful with excellent sound. In addition, innovative material selection and manufacturing techniques established a new benchmark for cost/ performance. The first generation of EON products became the all time best selling powered sound reinforcement speaker system with over 300,000 sold. EON G2, the second generation of EON builds on the technological innovation of EON. Let's take a brief look at some of the technologies that have made EON the success it is.

Low Frequency Innovations

When JBL engineers tackled the development of a portable powered speaker system it became clear that simply repackaging conventional amplifier and transducer technology would not yield the desired performance and reliability. A conventional low-frequency driver with the motor strength required could weigh nearly 20 pounds (9 kg.). Since this was nearly half the total weight budget for the EON15P, a new approach was taken.

The result is JBL's exclusive neodymium Differential Drive® transducer. The use of neodymium as a magnetic material in speakers will produce benefits even when used in an otherwise conventional design. Neodymium is magnetically "stiffer" and hence suffers less from flux modulation with a resulting decrease in harmonic distortion. In addition, neodymium delivers more magnetic strength than conventional materials so less of it is needed resulting in weight reduction.

JBL combined neodymium with the Differential Drive speaker. The Differential Drive system uses two voice-coil windings on a single voice-coil former. This greatly simplifies the magnetic circuit and eliminates the need for a heavy steel back plate - further reducing speaker weight. But the benefits of neodymium Differential Drive® technology extend beyond weight reduction. Since this design results in a symmetrical magnetic circuit, significant reductions in even-order harmonic-distortion are achieved.
